Instrument-assisted soft tissue massage, also known as IASTM, uses a small metal tool that is tailored for the contours of your body. These soft tissue treatments allow your physical therapist to apply a light, consistent glide through fascial tissue.

Pink skin in the area after treatment or small red dots called “petechiae” can occur and are a normal but temporary response to increased blood flow near the skin’s surface.
